Charles Joseph Marshall lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado until his death on February 9, 2018. He was born in Verdigre, Nebraska, January 12, 1934, to V. Whitfield and Eleanor (Sucha) Marshall. He graduated from the University Nebraska with BSBA in 1955 and served active duty and as Reserve Officer in the Air Force. He received Honorable Discharge asCaptain,1967.
Charles married “Lou” Williams January 20, 1956, and they had two children, C. Whitfield and Debra Louise. He earned the Diploma of Graduation from the Graduate School of Banking, University of Wisconsin, 1964. Charles became major stockholder, President of the Bank of Verdigre, which prospered the Verdigre community. Lou became Vice President of the Bank, and together they were instrumental in Verdigre’s receiving the 1972 “All America City” Award, 1 of 11 in the USA that year. He retired and sold the Bank in 1981.
The accidental death of C. Whit Marshall in 1984 was a devastating blow to the family.
Charles loved flying. Moving to Colorado Springs in 1986, he flew his Cessna and then his Champ, joining the order of Quiet Birdmen (QB’s), and enjoying the friendship of many pilots and others. He continued in business as commercial building owner. Charles and Lou lived together in their home until her death in 2016, he resided there to present.
He leaves his daughter Deb and granddaughter Anna Lu of Denver, to whom he gave
immeasurable love and joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
