To James, Ben and Erin, I'm so sorry for your great loss. I hadn't seen Jan for a few years, but I never will forget her, she was one of the most fun and bubbly friends I've ever met, she had enough love to go around to everyone, she loved Dani and Robbie and I admired her for that. She will be greatly missed, If there is anything we can do please don't hesitate to ask, I know she would have done the same. We love you Jan.

Jim, Erin, Ben, Myra and family....Buzz and I wish to offer our condolences at this time for your loss. Jan will be missed so terribly much and it's just so hard to believe she's gone. We have so many wonderful memories of fun times when we all got together whether just to talk and play games at the house like pictionary or when we went camping and fishing. Jan was always so full of life and so knowledgable I could talk to her about anything and learned so much from her even on what colors to paint different rooms of the house, plants and trees and just everything. We moved to countryside in the early 90's, My parents bought a house across the street from the Kings's. I stayed the night many nights with Erin. Jan was always so giving, caring, and warm. She really knew how to make a home a home, She loved to cook and always made us breakfast in the mornings. There is to many memories for me to list. I remember she loved animals and animals loved her. She did my hair one year for prom and it looked great. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude.She loved her family. I am so blessed to have known her.

I met Jan years ago in North Carolina. She lived two doors down from me at Fort Bragg. We were meant to be best friends. She left Fort Bragg and moved to Colorado Springs and then my husband was transferred to Fort Carson, Colorado Springs. We lived in Security for about a year. Met Jim and knew he was going to be an important part of Jan's life. We then moved to Colorado Springs and once again lived two doors down from Jan on the same street. We had lobster on their wedding day. I was there when Erin was born. (17 hours in labor) We used to sit in the front yard and watch the hot air balloons fly overhead at 6:00 am in the morning on memorial day weekend. I moved to Norway after my divorce for about a year and then moved back to Colorado Springs. Ben had been born, while I lived in Norway. Jan loved to garden and read. I still have a counted cross stitch on my kitchen wall Jan made of a hen on a nest. Jan loved her family. Jan and I went through a lot of good and tough times together. I ended up moving back to New York but the King family was always in my heart. So many times I thought about going back to Colorado Springs for a visit. My dream was to get an RV and drive up to Colorado Springs one day.

Story shared: Our Wisconsin Trip

We traveled one year to Wisconsin in our motor home with Erin, Ben, and our daughter. Jim and Jan drove in their car. We went up there to visit with Jan's mom and dad at their cabin for the fourth of July. Jan's family welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. They roasted a whole pig and our daughter wouldn't eat it because she saw the pigs face. Some who was there had a whole trunk full of fire works. Up there they shoot of any kind of fire works. In the bathroom Jan's mom made a towel and washcloth rack out of a 2x4 with nails to hold the towel. She put our names above the nails so everyone had their own spot. A cross the road was a lake that we took the kids to play on the dock. When we were leaving the lake a man told us anytime we wanted to take the kids on the lake we were more than welcome to take his pontoon boat out. We never took the boat out. We had a wonderful time in Wisconsin with Jan and Jim and the kids.
